X/Twitter - Some Useful Productivity Tips
Back in 2017 I left Facebook. Immediately cutting off access to family and friends but steadfast in my refusal to bend the knee to Darth Zuckerberg. Instead I moved to Twitter, now X.

In the Beginning
That all ended when Covid arrived and Jack Dorsey turned Twitter into a left leaning liberal monster, banning all conservative voices. Until 2022 when Elon Musk arrived and flipped the joint on its head, eradicating all the Democrat DEI hires that stank out the place.
Several years later, Twitter is now X, the platform has balanced up to be more moderate conservative (rather than hard liberal). The voices and dissent against Government and Authority is very strong on X, so much so that one can feel the revolution in the air. "Viva la rêsistance".
Some Tips For You
As an "over user" of X, I've found ways to be more productive about using the platform more than most. Here are a few of my tips.
Use a VPN
Use a reputable VPN - this is a must when using X as recent sweeping events related to infringements on freedom of speech in countries like the UK, France and Brazil have come to pass. The two VPN's I use are Mullvad and Private Internet Access (PIA). A third that I would have no hesitation recommending is SurfShark.
Use the Web Browser
Web Browser rather than App - I am rather suspicious of large scale mobile apps like X, Facebook, Reddit, Instagram etc due to privacy concerns. Instead I corral my X interactions using the Brave browser, which immediately puts a halt on X's advertising which they overload through the app. I'm not a fan of X's notifications constantly flowing through either, though I can control this via my phones notification settings. Using a web browser means I can just focus on the content only.
Obfuscation
Never use your real name - obfuscation is the key when playing around on X. Avoid using real names, country of origin, place or locations that are local to you, don't use a photo of you (if you do use a real old one or an unrelated graphic) or of your family, or your car and home. Hopefully the reasons why will be obvious to you, as in.. identity theft.
Use Block Option
Use the block option constantly - there are many idiots on X. Know how to identify them and block them like the plague.
Use Mute Option
Use the Mute Word option to filter/block content - X throws all manner of content your way thanks to their algorithms. Under your Profile, go to:
-
Settings and Privacy
-
go to Privacy and Safety
-
then Mute and Block
-
then Muted Words
-
Enter in a term (like Kamala)
-
then click SAVE button at the bottom of the screen
-
Enter a new term and repeat.
Use Fedica App
Use the Fedica app - I was recommended this app to provide some value added tools to my X account, not provided by X itself. Fedica does two useful things for me:
- provides me useful weekly statistics on who has unhallowed me on X. More out of curiosity than exactful revenge lol.
- a means of writing posts, though any draft content beyond 300 characters (the limit for non blue checked accounts) is broken out into a continuous thread. A blue check account will show up as post.
Any further tips I will add them as I find them.
